The University of Miami partnered with Florida International University and
Osel Dorje Nyingpo (ODN), a non-profit organization dedicated to the teaching
of Tantric Vajrayana Buddhism, to sponsor His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s visit
to Miami September 19– 22, 2004.
His Holiness addressed University of Miami students, faculty, staff and
invited guests on Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. in the UM Convocation
Center. He spoke on A Human Approach to World Peace and also received an
honorary doctorate of humane letters in recognition of his stature as a spiritual leader
of the Tibetan people and as a world visionary for peace and the environment.
