Khempo Yurmed Tinly Rinpoche's
Kham Kathok Tibetan Settlement Fund

April 2005
from Dana Schwartz, President of ODN

ODN Sangha in India with Khempo Rinpoche's family and friends

After H.E. Khempo Rinpoche's passing, several ODN Sangha members traveled to India to attend the cremation ceremony which took place in the Tibetan community in which Khempo Rinpoche's family live. We were welcomed with open hearts by Khempo Rinpoche's mother, brother, extended family, friends and the monks of the community's monastery. Despite the sadness of Khempo Rinpoche's unexpected passing, his family was anxious to make us feel welcome, and to spend days talking to us not only about wonderful memories, but of their current living situation.

Khempo Rinpoche was the sole supporter of his family, and provided financially for all their needs. With his passing, the family found themselves in a difficult situation, facing a very uncertain future.

Those of us who spoke with the family were greatly touched by their humility, kindness and shyness regarding speaking to us about their current situation. It quickly became apparent to us that Khempo Rinpoche's organization, ODN, should continue to support his family - that clearly this is what Khempo Rinpoche would have wanted.

To provide ongoing financial support for the family and monks, we have established the 'Kham Kathok Tibetan Settlement Fund' and plan to build this fund over time through a variety of means including your generous donations.

ODN will begin seeding the Kham Kathok Tibetan Settlement Fund's account with the proceeds from the sale of Khempo's vehicles that were donated to him by his students. If you would like more information, please contact ODN at: Linda@odn-usa.org or to see what is available click here.

If you would like to donate to the 'Kham Kathok Tibetan Settlement Fund,' we accept donations through paypal or by mail. Please contribute by clicking on the 'Support ODN' link. Donations are tax deductible and are greatly appreciated.
